Guided tour at the Yanomami. Spirits. Survivors. photo exhibition
An exciting photo exhibit landed at the Museum of Ethnography: a comprehensive collection of the Brazilian photographer with Hungarian heritage Claudia Andujar. The exhibition presents a small but important part of her oeuvre, which you can explore in depth if you join this guided tour (in English). From magazine photography and experimentation to the artistic and activist images she made among the indigenous people of Yanomami, learn more about her work!

Flava Kitchen&More Terrace Opening
Downtown's Flava Kitchen&More is an urban jungle worth being explored. Celebrating their first birthday and opening their terrace, they await you with a new spring menu (including juicy karage chicken with waffles and yuzu mayonnaise and green curry shrimp) and delicious cocktails. Whether it's a Chandon Garden Spritz or an Aperol Spritz, you can clink your glasses sitting outdoors, taking in the buzz. From 6 pm, a DJ will spin the discs, adding to the laidback city vibes.

Budapest Park Opening Weekend
Budapest Park, the city's favourite open-air concert venue, is ready to open its gates for the season, promising fun nights under the stars. Expect many local talents to perform live, with the popular Hungarian band Honeybeast kicking off the show on April 26th. You can also groove to iconic hits from the '90s and '00s at the alfresco NECC party, also happening this weekend.

Lángos Day at Czakó Piacz Farmers' Market
Halfway up the Buda Hills, Czakó Piacz Farmers' Market is a real gem. Popping up every weekend, this lovely garden offers fresh goods from local producers, from sourdough bread and ham to flowers and honey. What's more, on April 27th (8 am - 2 pm), you can also try a Hungarian delicacy here: homemade deep-fried dough topped with sour cream and cheese (lángos).

Downtown Wardrobe Sale
Let your inner shopaholic and eco-warrior enjoy themselves at the same time by joining a cool second-hand sale. You can set off on a treasure hunt right in the city centre, on Erzsébet tér, to refresh your wardrobe sustainably. The sale is on from 11 am to 6 pm, and you will surely not leave with empty hands.

JazzFest Budapest 2024
Kicking off on April 27th, more than 200 performers from different generations join together in Budapest clubs, bars, cafés, theatres, and public places to celebrate jazz. At the Budapest Jazz Festival, up-and-coming musicians as well as renowned exponents of the genre appear at multiple locations around the city. This weekend, you can see artists like the Farkas-Szajkó-Snétberger trio, Jelen Trio, or Ferenc Snétberger and Anders Jormin. If you are an early bird, you can even start your Saturday at 5 am with jazz musicians backdropped by sunrise and Budapest panorama at the Philosophers' Garden.

NightRide: Exploring Kolodko Statues
Guerilla artist Mihály Kolodko's figurines, scattered throughout the city, never fail to surprise. If you are up for exploring some of them, hop on a bike and join the NightRiders on April 27th. Meet the team at 8:30 pm (no need to sign up) on Szabadság tér (next to the Ronald Reagen statue), and hit the road at 9 pm. Pedalling approximately 45 km, you will cycle past the Megyeri Bridge to check out the artist's latest creation depicting a tied-up Chuck Norris, then head up to Buda Castle, before descending to Batthyány tér.

Budapest Girls Talking & Walking
If you are up for meeting new people (sorry pals, it's girls only), join the very first event of Budapest Girls Talking & Walking. The main goal is to bring all women together to create new friendships and share experiences while enjoying the sunshine and taking a stroll around the city. Women from all ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, languages, disabilities and sexualities are welcome. The concept was born in NYC and has now arrived in Budapest, with the first walk happening on April 28th. It will start at Esetleg Bisztró and end at the Parliment.

Asian Streetfood Festival
Open-air street food market Botellón Terasz, located right on the main street of the Jewish Quarter, is going Asian this week. So if you are a fan of sushi, ramen, and baos, head to Kazinczy utca – and make sure to be hungry. The city's top Asian restaurants, including Kicsi Japán, 101 Bistro, Wang Mester, and many more, are presenting their signatures. Tasty drinks and live music are also part of the deal – come alone, with friends, or with a pup.

Pelican Blue at Bem Cinema
If you are up for watching a Hungarian movie, add Pelican Blue to your list, which premiered on April 4th. It's a rare gem, a blend of documentary and animation, equally entertaining and informative. With the Iron Curtain's fall, after the 40-year communist regime, and the borders opening, our heroes, Ákos, Laci, and Petya, decide to see the world. Fuelled by their chemistry knowledge, they forged train tickets using Pelikan blue carbon paper, a key tool in their operation. This unlocked the gateway to Europe, not just for them, but for many others who followed their lead.

Springtime Community Dance Extravaganza
On April 28th, as an opening of the Budapest Spring Festival, the Tavaszi TáncTér (Spring Dance Square) arrives with various genres from Argentine tango demonstrations to swing. That means you can dance your afternoon away – literally, as the event is on from 2 pm to 9 pm – in the middle of Budapest, on Madách tér.
