Új-Zélandon több helyen is tradicionális maori táncot jártak a christchurchi áldozatok emlékére
A hakát leginkább az új-zélandi nemzeti válogatottak meccsein lehetett eddig látni, eleinte a rögbiválogatott védjegye volt, azóta már több csapatsport is átvette, általában a himnuszok előtt szokták bemutatni. Emiatt sokszor harci táncként hivatkoznak rá, de valójában a hagyományos maori kultúrában a hakát ünnepekkor és temetéseken is táncolják, de akár fontos vendégek üdvözlésekor is a rituálé része lehet. Új-Zélandon az elmúlt napokban leginkább a gyász miatt táncoltak hakát, a christchurchi mecsetekben elkövetett terrortámadás ötven áldozatára emlékezve.
